- Federated or distributed : consistent data bases ; multiple independent enterprises agree to connect and shares specific information managed centrally but with independent repositories. Inconsistent databases ; multiple independent enterprises agree to connect and shares specific information in a point to point manner .
- Switch : a service that enables the exchange of information across multiple independent enterprises that have unilateral agreement to exchange data.
- Patient managed : patient carry their own electronic records or subscribe to a service that enables the patient to direct exchange the data.
- Hybrid : combination of any of these models.
* Thoughts on Accurate patient identification and privacy concerns :
- it is mandatory to identify with correct patient with correct record of patient so as to achieve the best health care treatemnt for the patient .
- patient records should be kept private to prevent misuse and violation .
- use multi factor authentication for added security.
- Back up data often so that this helps retain your data .
