Describe the critical role of health information exchange in patient care at an organization level (across all facilities), statewide level, and national level. How do the goals of each vary and how is quality of care enhanced?
The field of health care is changing everyday. The new drugs, new technology and new equipment make health care system efficient and productive.
There is an important role nowadays in health information exchange. When knowledge is transferred from one person to other person or one institution to other and so on can lead continuous development of health care information and it will help the humanity greatly.
At organisation level, the health information exchange can be done through the doctors, nursing staff and other health care workers of the organization to improve the quality of health services delivered. The human resource department of the institution can play an important role by organising programes and coordinating it with other organizations to find out any changes in health care information that will help both the organization to do well.
At state level the health government can take action plans under the health ministry to organise programs and conduct causes in the state to train individuals. These individuals can be posted in various hospitals under the state and they will update all the changes in health care information exchange.
In the national level, the government can coordinate all the state level programs and implement new programs to every states and carry out research in health information exchange. All the actions taken by the national authority will result in the benefit of state and individual organizations.
Goals of each level will be restricted to the patients coming under the respective levels of health care like primary, secondary and tertiary health care systems.
The quality of their care can be assessed by collecting reviews from the patients at the time of discharge from hospital. The quality of health care can also be measured in terms of maternal and neonatal mortality rates.
