Discuss the “waterfall” method in your own words. How does it work? Provide an example where this method may be useful.
The waterfall model is most suitable for small-scale projects involving simple goals & systems.
Taking an example of a health care organization that already uses electronic health records & wants to incorporate a new patient check-in kiosk.
In this case the waterfall model would be an appropriate SDLC (systems development life cycle) for this project.
In detail I would like to explain it in following steps:
For the first step of the waterfall model, the organization’s leaders would meet with representatives from several work groups, incorporating the nurses, physicians, & medical assistants, to determine whether a checkin kiosk will be a feasible project or not.
In the very next step, the organization’s leaders would analyze the goals & requirements for the check-in kiosk.
After the completion of analysis step, the organization’s leaders would authorize the design of the system & will hand over the project to the design team.
This team will work considering the goals & the requirements alas well as will design a plan
Furthermore, the design team would proceed to the implementation phase & will develop a working kiosk.
And as soon as the kiosk is up and running, the design team would test the kiosk’s functioning to make certain that it is ready to be used.
Finally, the design team would maintain the kiosk by providing technical support for the users & ensuring that necessary upgrades & revisions are made in proper manner.
Hence the waterfall model is a very important tool is playing a very important role in health care organization now days.
