Emotional intelligence refers to the persons ability to manage or control his or her emotions

He also possess the ability to control the emotions of others as well

It is a very important skill in leadership

It Is made up of 5 main elements :

  • Self awareness
  • Self regulation
  • Motivation
  • Empathy
  • Social skills

Self awareness : when one is aware of his or her strengths and weaknesses

Self regulation: holding ourself accountable in case if some mistakes and being calm in every situation

Motivation: one is motivated when he or she can do series of tasks in a better position

Empathy : when a person is able to think of a situation of another person it is called empathy

Social skills : it is the most important aspect. They are about communicating our point of view

This concept of emotional intelligence is very relevant to job performance and organizational commitment because:

  • It brings in the importance of constructing an innovative institution culture within the company
  • And bring high levels of emotional intelligence for institutions
  • For eg:- some companies assign their managers from their own employees
  • This situation has some advantage such as being closely acquainted with managers organizational culture, climate, financial and human structure of organization, besides having some disadvantages
  • But to the company's career planning, it may create negative situation for the company, if the employees are only promoted according to their technical knowledge, the year when they work and the expertise they have without considering emotional intelligence level
  • Managers with low emotional intelligence level are inefficient in creating awareness and emotions about involving in the organizational culture for employees.
