Knowledge Management:
1. Explain briefly the relationship between the below sections from the recommendations: KM audit, KM objectives, Gap analysis, Short-term and Long-term.
2.: What is the importance of gap analysis in developing a sound Knowledge Management strategy?
A Knowledge management audit is the observations about what kind of knowledge resources are present in the company and how the knowledge flow takes place within the company. Knowledge management audits are related to knowledge management objectives by the way of whether the knowledge management objectives are being met by the existing resources, processes and systems. KM audit will confirm the objectives are being met or not and if not what are the gaps that could be filled. It also ensures that there is a continuous process of enhancing knowledge management. Gap Analysis is used to find out the deficiencies in the knowledge management systems which fail to meet the objectives. These objectives can be short term or long term objectives. Knowledge resources can be used to developed and meet both of these objectives.
Gap Analysis addresses the deficiencies in the process, systems and resources and addresses these deficiencies. A sound knowledge management system requires the creation of a pool of knowledge resources and the flow of knowledge and replacement of those resources. Gap analysis examines where there is a deficit and therefore action can be taken to remove those deficits.Gap analysis must be performed regularly as this is a continuous process.
