In order to prevent stress first we need to understand what is stress. In very simple words stress body's natural response to situations which the body feels threatening and disturbing . Little amount of stress can be useful as it makes us more focused and we do things in a more constructive way with our full potential . High amounts of stress hampers our decision making capabilities and induces cortisol which is harmful for our body .
Stress is common in the teenagers and adults as they face any difficulty trusting scenarios in their life .it involves a step by step approach to counter stress
Identify the stressors - The first thing which needs to be done is to identify the stressors . What are the factors that are contributing to stress?
Developing a coping mechanism - The second thing which should be done is to develop; a coping mechanism. It can be defined as an approach to help resolve personal and interpersonal problems , It helps the individual to tolerate or reduce the stressors in life .This approach has a specific set of goals which are achieved through adaptive behaviors . There are three types of coping strategies
Appraisal Focused - In this approach the thought process is targeted and individuals try to change their perception of stressors .
Problem based -It is concerned with the source of the main root cause of the stress . Individuals in this approach focus on removing the source of stress .
Emotion based - In this approach individuals focus on controlling the emotions .
There are other ways to prevent stress: regular exercise , meditation , eating healthy food , Self rewarding methods , writing a reflex action journal .
