The project will identify how the property, its’ activities and guests will impact the surrounding environment, depending on the nature of your recreational activities. This hotel is located in Islamorada, FL (Florida keys)
Islamorada is a tourist destination where beaches and parks are the major attractions. Most of the Hotels or resorts in Islamorada are beach facing and service centred . It is key source of revenue. Hotels or resorts has a major impact on the community. Employement generation is a major impact , this enabled to use the potential resource in the country and hospitality presented creates a global recognition. The impact of hotel or resorts on surrounding environemnt also includes waste generation, over exploitation of resources, sewage, wastage of energy or water, pollution, mismanagement of waste or even the purchasing policies. Environmently responsible attitude is needed from the part of hotels or resorts for safeguarding and protecting the environment. As the number of tourist increases the demand for resources increases as well as creates leads to generation of more waste. Hotels also consume huge amount of water and energy. Lighting, refridgerators, air conditioners , heaters etc consumes huge energy . Use of renewable energy for meeting thses requirements could have serous impacts such air , water pollution, loss of habitat, global warming etc. This customer service oriented sector needs water and energy resources for meeting their customer requirements such as swimming pools , ample food and drink, jacussi's etc . so these has a negative impact on the availability and use of resources and it may lead to water pollution and other environmental problems. The judicious use of resource and its supply could avoid wastages. The waste trash and sewage management is important , mismanagement could lead to water pollution, affects aquatic life and could damage communities.
The impact of the property and its activity on the surrounding environment due to recreational activity is significant as it is critical for the community development, growth and revenue generation. It has both positive and negative impact on the surrounding environment. The surrounding community is benefited to an extend through the operation of hotels, with respect to investment , developemnt , employement generation, economic growth etc. The negative impacts of property and its activities includes distruction of environment, huge consumption of water and energy, water crisis and pollution, waste generation etc. The guest or tourist do have impact on the surrounding environment, generates foreign exchange earnings , infrasturactural developemnt for the promotion of tourism from the revenue generated from tourist, cultural and ethinic promotion , all these are positive impacts . The negative impact includes the traders or hoteliers increase the price by focussing on tourist but it is also suck up by the local residents of the area, guest will have to pay more depending on the recreational facility or enjoyment provided and another major problem is cultural conflicts.
