In the Erik Erikson’s theory of psychosocial stages of development, General versus self absorption is the seventh stage of psychosocial development. This stage is associated with the age group of people who lie in their middle adulthood around the age of 40 and 65.

Generatively can be referred to as a thought process which leads to exploration of ways in which they can make a significant contribution to the society as a whole usually in a positive manner which can help in improving the living conditions for other people.

Stagnation can occur at the middle adulthood age for an individual when they are not able to understand the means to bring about a significant change in society and the world.

The psychosocial conflicts that may arise in the stage of psychosocial development are the conflict of interest in finding ways to contribute towards the society. The basic virtue of the psychosocial stage is care. Individuals who are not able to fulfill their basic virtue can experience contact in later stages of life.

The most significant and widely used method of resolving the current list released in this psychosocial stage of development for an individual is done by right parenting techniques which help in providing the world with an individual who has their morals and values along with the knowledge to proceed their work in future.
