What is LUN, and how can it be applied to SAN management?
Answer)
The logical number of the unit is known as the LUN number which is the identified or id which is used on the systems to label the physical or virtual storage systems and also subsystems. Thus we can have a LUN for the disk subsection or even have them for the entire disk and thus the channels can be accessed.
The LUNs are actually to be configured and should be defined in the RAID group sets such that they can be used and designed for the protection of the disks and storages against failures. We can thus assign the LUN the storage a part or all of the storage RAID capacity such that it is presented to host. The LUNs have the physical storage drives which are assigned in such a way that they can be written and also read correctly form the SAN which is storage area network. The LUN in the SAN concept is thus the important and the required part which can be sued in the configuration. The configuration of the SAN should be in such a way that the drive arrays and also the LUNs should be managed and also the security on the SAN will be achieved using the authorization for the servers across LUNs.
