In a 3 – 5 page paper, discuss how EHRs function within the physician’s office. And, more importantly, focus on what it means to use the EHR “meaningfully” through the Meaningful Use Incentive program
EHRs or electronic health records :-
Electronic health records is a softwere that is used Now a days in almost all the hospitals to receive, store, and analyse patient's data by the Doctor, nurses and other concerned staff.
functions of EHR in a Physician's office :-
confidentiality:- as we are recording patient's data electronicly and in a software so the third person who is not consern to the treatment facility like doctors nurses and other team members, cannot see the patient's history ,what treatment is going on ,and what investigation are done got the patient
Saves time and space :-as it is not stored on paper so no space is required to save a patient's large files and also it is very easy to record in an computer rather than storing in couple of files and writing all the things that takes too much of space for storage and too much time to complete.
Easy assessment : physician can assess patient's record very easily no matter where he is he just need the software on his mobile or on his PC .
Fast instructions :-with ththe help of EHRs in an emergency situation we can make a call to the doctor he don't have any need to come and check the patient 'S file on the bed side he can analyze the situation from that place and provide immediate instructions for that situation.
Fast analysis by different departments:- every one who is concerned withthe treatment can analyze the reports as soon as they are generated weather those team members are from the same department or from the different one.
less chances of error:- as they are stored electronicly so there are less chance of making error because ever thing that is needed for that particular situation is already written and saved one just has to fill the blank columns infront of that.
CMS, has started the Medicare and Medicaid electronic health records system incentive program to encourage eligible professionals, eligible hospital and critical assess hospital to adopt implement and upgrade the EHR
It mainly has three stages :-
First stage establish requirements for clinical assess of the patient data by providing electronic copies of health information to the patient.
Second stage Advancing clinical process, this is nothing but a next level for stage one in which we have to use EHR effectively with improvement in the quality care and making an exchange of information in a standardized way. It is mainly focused with reporting requirement and Aline it with quality reporting and as standardized as possible.
Third stage in this stage we have to mainly focus on maximum use of certified electronic health records system to improve health outcome to decrease error make a fastest assess.
