what is the role of the health care employee in the consent process
Consent process is mainly getting permission/acceptance prior to examination, health or medical intervention on a individual for disclosing personal information.
consent process collecting by health care provider and epidemologist should follow medical ethics and research ethics respectively.
Informed consent can be said to have been given based up on a clear appreciation and understanding of facts, implications, and consequences of an action.Health care provider should take consent only from those individuals who have adequate reasoning capability, and be in possession of all relevant facts.
If health care provider collected consent from emotional impaired person the results may going to distort in future, that particular impaired person may reverse his/her statements which leads to bias.
In mentally retarded cases-If health care provider noticed that, an desired individual is unable to understand or give consent then another person(i.e.,parents,gaurdian) is generally authorised to give consent for desired individual .
If health care provider noticed that an individual is provided with partial consent or given with partial consent then there is a chance for raising serious ethical issues.such cases in clinical trails are anticipated and prevented by ethics commitee until they get clarity for themselves.
The consent methods, rules, protocols and its pros and cons should be well aware to health care provider and the providers should express their views precisely with perfect accuracy to get acceptance with free mind from patient/individual.Because In some situations a person may verbally agree to something from fear, percieved peer and social pressure ,mental tensions and psychological difficulty in asserting true feelings. The person requesting the action may honestly be unaware of this and believe the consent is true and rely on it.consent is expressed ,but not internally given.
