Business process management (BPM) is a subsection of operations management in where usage of various methods are done to discover, model, analyze, measure, improve and optimize business process so that performance is in lineage with companies objectives . It can be considered as way of analyzing and controlling process that are present in an organization and that is very much helpful in tome of crisis which helps in taking efficient nd effective measure to enhance business process and it overall working .

Its not a technology though it encompasses lot of technologies like IOT,AI,Busniness analytics etc. Its a business practice that helps in identifying and improving business performance with the help of all available resources in an organization. With it company takes a step back to identify current state and areas of improvement so that it becomes more efficient and effective .

Most of industries have already started to use BPM as their competitive advantage including insurance, healthcare, government and information technology . In era of a globalized economy BPM is very useful in brining about a competitive advantage over the rest.

BPM in healthcare:

BPM can be very much effective if implemented wisely in healthcare. BPM adoption takes place in a systematic way where it enhances ability of the organization. BPM methods has a clear set of rules, standardized execution, and performance metrics.

Two area where BPM can be beneficial in healthcare are bed management and infection control.

Bed management is always a herculean task even be it finding a ward. It creates a chaos for patients waiting in recovery room as their stay in hospital s prolong and its also a chaos for hospital staff for allotting them a room. This where BPM comes in to solve this problem efficiently. Absence of BPM makes bed management inefficient, slow, and usually quite complex. Since manual task are involved chance of making errors are very high.

BPM provides an integrated documentation approach with all hospital process through an Integrated enterprise excellence that tracks most important behaviors for the organization as a whole.

BPM brings about automation for bed management and infection control Automated bed management cut down many manual process and patience can be directed with safety and effectiveness with chances of error making very much reduced.

The biggest hurdle in the implementation is lack of knowledge of hospital staff.If properly implemented Automated greatly improve productivity and increase revenue .Moreover time and money are saved through automation and thats hospital get a chance of competitive advantage over the rest.
