What technical, legal and insurance issues may arise that will need to be addressed in telemedicine to fulfill any promises on its use?
Telemedicine can be defined as the activity of facilitating healthcare services to the patients who are situated at a remote location and with the help of some technology, the healthcare provider facilitates the healthcare services to the patients,
Technical issues=
Reimbursement of the telemedicine services can be quite complicated as Medicare has the provision of paying for the telemedicine services but it has some limitations
There is no proper coordination between the platform used for the telemedicine and EHR
Due to the absence of platform integration, the chances of care continuity may result.
There may be several patients who are not technically sound and this can pose some restrictions in this area.
Legal issues=
There is a big question mark on the patient data safety and privacy as huge data about the patient can be stored by the caregiver and this will need the formulation of specific guidelines
Telemedicine will need greater and improve data security and these security standards are still not well developed.
There are greater chances of medical malpractices and there must be some check on the patient-physician association, different practice standards.
Insurance issues= There is still a lot of confusion about the insurance coverage of these services. There are some insurance providers which pay for these services while some insurance providers do not pay
KINDLY RATE THE ANSWER AS THUMBS UP. THANKS A LOT
