5 Ways that a Project Manager can use to motivate his/her team:-
The ability to motivate a team is one of the important and most demanding skills of every Project Managers. Its pretty Exhausting, long-lasting projects do happen, and the more skilled in motivation project manager is, the easier it will be for the whole team to handle this situation.
1. To Set Realistic and Achievable Goals.
While this may seem obvious, sometimes it is still worth re-evaluating your project goals and making sure they are realistic and achievable.Starting a new project is exciting and it can be easy to overestimate the capability of yourself and your team. Naturally, you want to work as hard as you can and achieve the best results, but make sure you don’t get carried away.Have a detailed agenda from the beginning of the project so that each team member knows what their responsibilities are and that the work is divided fairly. Good preparation will help you to avoid common setbacks such as allocating too much work to one team member leading to poor quality results.
2. Increase their Commitment:
The best and easiest way to do so is to explain how finishing this project will benefit both your company and your team. It might be surprising but actually, not every one of your team keeps this benefits in mind during their work. Some simply don’t know about them, doing their work because they are told to. Some know about them but don’t keep them in mind the whole time – in this case, reminding them about it can increase their motivation at least a bit.
3. Highlight benefits of work and provide timely incentives as rewards:
Outlining the benefits of a project generates deeper appreciation and commitment to the work. Also, when members understand the intentions behind the project, they connect to it more easily. On the other hand, providing attractive incentives isnt always possible as compensation rarely fails to inspire more motivational drives.
4.Find ways to foster strong relationships among all members:
Having a team that can function well outside of the office is irreplaceable. When they care for each other on a level deeper than being co-workers they will be willing to put more effort into their roles.
5. Give them each a chance to shine
You know that your success also depends on the success of your
team. Figure out a way to allow each member the opportunity to be
in the spotlight. Knowing they have this chance will motivate them
to put forth their best work.
