Due to coronavirus epidemic businesses throughout the globe are in downwards trend. Global recession is likely to hit the market even after the market comes on track.During this difficult time managing business organizations is a challenging task. Let us elaborate on the parameters as mentioned above.
1. Job security and protection:- Since sales output drops during a recession, manpower cost per unit sales increases considerably. Therefore management tries to cut off the number of employees to reduce the manpower cost so that they can meet the target. Employees need to be multitasking and should take as much work as possible. The company should feel that the employee can reduce the management cost by accepting different challenges. Managers have the responsibility to train their subordinates for different skills. Also, employees should adopt techniques like KAIZEN to be innovative and extra productive.
2. Employee Morale:- Managers should adopt the following techniques to increase the morale of employees.
(a) On-time salary and wages.
(b) Exercise and yoga during work hours.
(c) Announcement for incentives on special achievements.
(d) Awards for suggestions
(e)Formation of Cross-functional teams to enhance the positive thinking throught the organization.
3. KEY Competencies:- Following methods should be adopted by the management to enhance the Key Competencies of the employees.
(a) All the key responsible areas should be made measurable.
(b) Targets should be revised on a monthly or quarterly basis.
(c) Incentives should be announced on achieving the targets.
4. Employee Wellness:-
(d) On job training should be given to enhance the key expertise.
4. Employee Stress:- To reduce the stress following actions should be taken.
(a) Employees must be assured for job security
(b) Overburden of responsibilities should be avoided.
(c) Exercises and meditation should be promoted in the workplace.
(d) Social bonding among employees should be increased.
5. Anxiety:- Managers should take care of the following points to reduce anxiety among employees.
(a) The financial status of each employee should be verified.
(b) Health issues should be taken care of.
(c) The relation between the boss and subordinate should be strengthened.
(d) Workplace culture should be favorable.
6. Employee Wellness:-.Following points should be adhered to improve employee wellness.
(a) Temperature monitoring employees to be done at the workplace.
(b) The first aid box should be available.
(c) The medical room should be set up at the workplace.
(d) Safety training should be given.
7.Effective Decision Making:- Decision should be made following points in view.
(a) Decision making should be rational (Data based).
(b) Proper analysis tools like FMEA, SWORT ANALYSIS, etc should be applied.
(c) MRM (Management review meetings) should be conducted before decision making.
(d)Top management should be involved while making a decision.
8. Quality of work produced:- Following actions should be taken to improve quality.
(a) SPC should be used to reduce the rejection level.
(b) The focus should be on process control not on inspection.
(c) Training should be given at all levels.
(d) COPQ (Cost of poor quality should be reduced).
9. Work-life balance :
(a)The family gets together should be done once in a month
(b) Working late hours should be avoided.
(c) Working on holidays should be avoided.
(d) Social work outside the premises should be promoted.
10. Mental Health:-
(a) NLP techniques should be adopted
(b) On job training should be given on a regular basis.
(c) Zim and yoga centers should be set up in the workplace.
(d) Employees should be encouraged for meditation.
11. High-Risk Health Category
(a) Such employees should not be working late hours.
(b) The night shift for those employees should be avoided.
(c) If possible regular check-up should be ensured.
(d) Should be encouraged for regular exercises.
12.Government Sector:-
(a) Government subsidies should be availed during difficult times.
(b) Safety training provided by the government should be availed.
(c)Management should follow government guidelines to enhance the business.
(d) Managers should be aware of national economic policies provided by the government.
13. Security Forces -
(a) Employees should be screens at security gates.
(b) Security should be alert to stop pilferages.
(c) Security people should be trained in fire fighting equipment.
(d) Security forces should be well disciplined.
14. Health Sector:-
(a) The health sector should always try to find out the medical solutions.
(b) The cost of manufacturing should always be controlled.
(c) New technologies should be adopted to improve quality.
