1.) Is addiction influenced more by nature or nurture? Explain your answer

The nature vs nurture debate has been an evergreen eMate, which does not seem to be ending. Questions of addiction if it begins due to a genetic signal or due to some trigger found in the environment. These questions have been tried to be answered since a long time. This impacts the manner in which an addiction would e treated.

This is because, if addiction is genetic, it could be cleared through medications and if addicts is as a result of the ifestyle that a person leads, coaching would be the way.

In addiction there is involvement of both psychological changes as well as physical changes, and both these changes could be highly damaging to an individual. It has been suggested by the American psychological association that almost half of the addiction seen in a person is as a result of their genetic susceptibility. Some bits would be passed down from the parents that like be determining hair colour, skin colour, eye colour etc. these things cannot be altered through therapy. These could be altered through cosmetics in the form of medications, though the genes would be continuing to exert their effects.

Although, another form of argument states that people are more than just a genetic code, as the person’s life would progress, they would be going through various experiences that would be changing their minds as well as bodies. With growth, oriole might develop habits, that could b damaging them. This explains what nurture could do to a person. There have been many arguments put forward about how nurture could be affecting a person.

I believe, the nurture of a person is what would be affecting a person. Even though the genetic makeup of a person pushes them towards addiction, they could control their tendency to get addicted by heir will. It is the environment of a person that affects their will to smoke or get drunk. If a person gets involved in a group which does not indulge in addiction, despite their genetic make up, they wouldn’t want to get drunk as the peer group might not like it.

Hence, nurture plays a more important role in addiction as compared to nature.
