Question:1(a) Nature and nurture in your life. In what ways have nature and nurture impacted your development? Do you possess any attributes that seem to be more clearly influenced by one factor over the other? Is there any way to tease apart what has resulted from nature and what has resulted in nurture in your own development?
Question: 1(b)Albert Einstein wrote, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” The question I have for you at this point of our journey together is, “What is your genius?” For your discussion forum this week, describe what Albert Einstein is referring to based on what you have learned in this chapter. Be sure to use intelligence theories in your initial posting.
Write a three-page journal entry addressing both the topics.
Can someone help me to write a journal entry addressing both these topics?
(Dear patron, I will be able to help you with the first answer only since the second answer involves referring to the 'discussion forum' and the 'chapter' to which I have no access to. Also, the first question is very subjective, so if my answer does not resonate with yours, please make the necessary changes).
Journal Entry: Nature vs Nurture
Introduction
Nature versus nurture is an ongoing debate. It is a question that seeks to answer to what extent aspects of individual's personality, behavior, intelligence etc are inherited (nature) or acquired (nurture). Today many scientists, instead of taking an extreme position, is interested in knowing the interactions between the two.
In what ways have nature and nurture impacted your development?
Both nature and nurture have impacted my development in many ways. I have inherited my hair type, color of my eyes my height etc from my parents. E.g.. I have curly hair exactly like my mother and have an average height just like my parents. I like to believe that I have also inherited my intelligence from my parents since both of them are educational laureates. Nurture impacted in a very positive way in my development. I was allowed a free space to question, be a critical consumer of knowledge and was given optimum guidance, freedom and stimulation. Therefore, I would describe myself as someone who is ambitious, a risk taker and highly confident person.
Do you possess any attribute that seem to be more clearly influenced by one factor over the other?
I am a happy go lucky, cheerful, extrovert and a very positive minded girl and this is because of the environment that I got right from childhood. I have always seen my parents resolve fights with dignity and patience and maturity. I have seen them handle crisis with utmost resilience. No matter what my parents always taught me to be positive and never lose hope and so I think nurture here played a bigger part.
Is there any way to tease apart what has resulted from nature and what has resulted from nurture in your own development?
I believe everything in me is an interaction of the two. Influence of one might sometimes be a little more than the other, as discussed above, but it has always been an interaction of the two.
