Professional values have been identified as an important part of developing professionalism in nursing. Analyze the importance of Professional Values in Nursing in general and your own practice. Include the following in your paper:
1. Describe each of the professional values with an appropriate definition.
2. Explain how each professional value is used during nursing practice
3. Relate an example of how you have used each value in your practice
4. Analyze whether healthcare organizations should adopt the nursing professional values in their Mission statements or Code of Conduct

Answer: Professional values are the principles or guidelines to be followed to influence working behavior. The professional value include
- autonomy: It is the right to the freedom given to make their own decision.
- human dignity: It is defined as the provision of care by understanding the uniqueness of the individual.
- Altruism: It is defined as caring for patients by understanding their culture and belief.
- integrity: It is defined as honesty in the work by the nurse
- social justice: It is defined as the provision of patient care with equity.

Autonomy: This helps the nurse to respect the right of the patient to make a decision. Honor that patient is the right person to take his own decision.
Human dignity: Nurse will prove cultural competence and sensitive care to the patient, maintain confidentiality.
Altruism: Nurse concern about the welfare of patients, other nurses, and other health care team members.
Integrity: Nurse should be very honest. They have to share the information with the patient carefully.

Answer: Example of autonomy: The nurse gives the right to the patient to refuse or accept the treatment.
Example of Altruism: The nurse communication with the physician regarding the patient condition
Example of dignity: The nurse not sharing the information to the family member without information to the patient.

Answer: The health care organization should adopt this professional values in the code of conduct. The values are very important to improve the standard care of nursing care. This will helps to improve the relationship between other health team members and good interpersonal relations, trust with the patient and family member. The nurse will provide care by understanding the patient's culture and avoid discrimination among cultural differences. This will improve the quality of care of the organization.
