define professionalism, integrity academic misconduct and why are these important in Nursing discipline?
Professionalism is providing consistent care to achieve a healthy work environment. Professionalism is essential in nursing practice as it promotes safety and ethical values .Being accountable , having unselfish concern ,kindness towards patients , maintaining dignity , integrity and following ethical values are the core qualities of a professional which aids in health promotion and disease prevention.
Integrity is one of the core values of nursing. Integrity is being true to the profession and sticking to moral standards of practice for better patient outcomes and safety.It is important profession to practice beneficence and promote optimal nurse-patient relationship.
Academic misconduct is cheating which may cause disadvantage to efficient individual in the education institution because of unfair action of inconsistent individual. Inconsistent individual cannot practice the moral standards and set of values as they lack integrity which may cause problems to patients. A nurse should be trustworthy to promote health .
