Describe two characteristics of a learning organization and why they are important for a learning/coaching organization.
A learning organization is one which adopts to the constant change by learning and development program thus maintaining their competitive advantage for the benefit of the organization. Although it’s a painful, it’s very important that organizations learn and keep themselves updated.
One of the most important characteristics of a learning organization is system thinking. It’s a concept that the organization is made up of many interconnected parts. So, when we think of learning and development, we don’t think of a particular department or segment but we think of the all the departments and people irrespective of their designation and salary because each one is going to affect the other.
The second most important characteristics is Personal Mastery which explains the fact that an individual’s commitment to learning and development. Companies can recommend, plan and implement any number of training programs but it’s individuals who drive the change from within. If they are not ready, then the effort may not be fruitful to both the individual and the organization.
