Do you think the stigma of being a single mother is fully removed from our society?

• No,I don't think this stigma is completely removed from the society.Some people might have changed views about it but still some look down about upon it.Still,some people feel that a woman is powerless without a man,and a husband or father is needed to raise the child well.Some members of the society still feel,that a single mother cannot survive for long without a partner.The society doesnt look down upon single fathers but single mothers is a stigma.This engrained stereotypical gender roles is the root cause of the proble.The upbringing which focuses upon the woman taking care of the child with the financial help of the father is ancient! This thought process doesnt apply in the 21st century.Women are educated,independent,working and can take care of everything single handedly.
• It really makes me mad when I see society being so judgmental. New single mothers feel bad enough as it is, without the judgement and ignorance of society thrown in too. Most single mothers didn’t ask to be one. Some are single mothers because their husbands or partners have passed away suddenly, and some were cheated on. Some are single because they have fled a domestic violent relationship, or a partner with addiction.
• In my eyes that makes someone strong, brave, capable, independent, fierce and protective of her children. It doesn’t make them a bad mother.So,yes the society is changing but its still a long way to go before it is completely removed.
