pollution can be categorized into
1. Air pollution 2. Water pollution 3. pollution from solid waste.
Air pollution wll have the following cons. Air pollution is due to burning of fossil fules in industries and automobile exhausts.
1. It can emit CO2 due to burning of fossil fules which can subsequently lead to global warming.
2. the exhaust gases after combustion contains SOx and NOX can lead to acid rain.
3. Inhaling of these gases can affect the health of an indivdual leading to various type of lung diseases.
4. This also leads to depletion of ozone layer which is protecting the earth from ultraviloet raditions.
This problem can be solved by people with big business
1. Looing for renewable resources of energy like bio-diesel which maintains Carbon neutrality. Also use of solar power for electricity generation.
2. Treatment and recovery methods of waste so as to meet the norms stipulated by pollution control board.
3. Spending money on research for effective application of CO2 the gas that is expected to be responsible for global warming.
4. Ensuring Carbon credit.
(carbon credit is a tradable certificate or permit representing the right to emit one tonne of carbon dioxide or the mass of another greenhouse gas with a carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2) equivalent to one tonne of carbon dioxide.)
the purpose is drive industrial and commercial processes in the direction of low emissions or less carbon intensive approaches than those used when there is no cost to emitting carbon dioxide
5. Spending money on alternative treatment methods for removal of the pollutants.
Water pollution cons
1, It adds to excess growth of nutrients and leads to eutrophication.
2. Pollutants discharged from industries like heavy metals, oils reduce oxygen availability. Crops irrigated with water contaminated with heavy metals pose a health risk to humans.
3. Contaminated water if percolates through soli , if used for drinking purposes gives rise to water borne diseases.
The concept of RRR ( Reduce, reuse and recycle) need to be strictly followed for combating water pollution.
Reduce the discharge of waste metals and if possilbe recover valuable chemicals from waste water.
Strictly adopting the concept of zero discharge
soil pollution is to throwing the waste like garbage and polythene covers on land, This leads to
this can be prevented by
1. investigating methods of biodegradation.
2. Prevention of use of pesticides.
3. Use products that require less packaging.
4. Incineratino of solid waste to prevent soil pollution.
