The ethics of care is a normative ethical theory that holds moral actions that centers on interpersonal relationships and care. Ethics of care emphasize on the importance of response to individual.
The theory beloved in:
* people have varying degrees of dependence and interdependence on one another.
* Individual consequences of their choice deserve consideration in proportion to their vulnerability.
* It determines how to safeguard and promote the interest of those involved.
Tronto states four ethical elements of care: attentiveness, responsibility, competence and responsiveness.
As the theory was constituted by feminists as one of the cluster of normative ethical theories in the second half of the 20th century, feminists have critized care based ethics as a 'good women's and others have embraced it as parts of care focused feminism. Care focused feminists regard women's capacity for care as a human strength which should be and can be taught to and expected of men as well.
