Nature refers to our genetics, the unique combination of genes that we have naturally inherited from our biological parents from thier DNA.Many characteristics are controlled by our genes including our blood group , eye colour or hair colour, Some diseases are also caused by our genes, example- Cystic fibrosis.
Nurture refers to the effect of the environment on the characteristics. Nurture literally means care for and protect (someone or something) while they are growing.Environment affects the characteristics like weight or mass, or as presence of scar. Some diseases may be caused by environmental influences like diabetes or a heart disease.Example- a plant has not received sunlight or water, this may influence the height or the no. of fruits produced on it. We would say that the environment has influenced these characteristics of a plant by nurture.
Also, in context or in relation with nature/nurture,Genie's case was not so easy. She missed the crucial period in order to develop her language skills. She mainly spent her days being tied to her chair where she was only able to move her hands as well as feets. As a result, Genie was underfed as well as underpriviledged of her cognitive stimulation for most of her childhood. Many researchers were not able to determine whether Genie was suffering from cognitive defects which was caused by her years of abuse or if she was suffering from pre-existing cognitive effects.
