4.2 -You are required to write a report to your facility management officer informing him/her that health and safety regulations have been applied. Write a paragraph to illustrate what you would include in that report.
4.3 As a health and safety consultant, you are required to audit the existing health and safety policies within your department. Write the review and recommend 2 changes to the existing policies. Discuss why you think your recommendations are effective and compliant with the existing policies.
4.4 -You are running an induction program for your new staff on the health and safety policies and procedures at your department. Write a memo about the topics that you would discuss with them and how you would encourage them to apply those policies and procedures
1. Aspect that can impose potential risk
Coffee growing environment and fertilizers used for farming. The
quality of fertilizers used for farming can act as a potential
risk.
The toxicity of agrochemicals used for the farm.
Quality of soil used for coffee production.
Use of PCBs, dioxins, furans, DDT, aldrin, hexachlorobenzene,
chlordane, mirex, toxaphene, dieldrin, endrin and heptachlor should
be avoided which are the toxic agrochemicals.
The temperature of coffee served should be within the permissible
range so that it may not cause any injury to the customer in case
the customer spills the coffee.
2. Things to be included in the report of health and safety regulations
The product quality, growing environment, coffee processing environment need to be regularly monitored so as to be within health and safety regulations. The quality of Coffee Bean has been monitored for presence of insect, damage beans, broken beans, presence of sticks and stones. Presence of any of the above would lead to rejection of coffee beans. It is checked if the coffee sample is fermented, astringent, faded, past crop flavour, medicinal, tainted, oily or dirty, then the coffee sample would be rejected.
3. Recommended to changes to the existing policy
Include protection of worker, working in coffee farm, provide
convenient access to housing and provide them with basic necessity
and safe and comfortable environment and continuous improvement of
relevant facility.
The family of workers should be given access to educational
facilities and require medical care.
