Sustainability can also mean ensuring and minimizing the environmental impact of Sidra’s supply chain operations. There are multiple ways for this to take effect:

1. Ensuring the products purchased are sourced locally as this supports the local market, and minimizes the carbon footprint impact of the logistics operations
2. Products with less packaging. This may be difficult for Sidra supply chain due to the strict regulation on the sterilized products that need to keep and maintain the integrity of the products through its logistics journey and storage until consumption by the patient
3. Sidra can offset this challenge by increasing the portion of reusable clinical instruments and products. Although invariably economical considerations play an important part in this decision, but factors such as waste disposal do take part in this equation. Sidra does have a significant sized sterilization department thus also has a significant portion of their requirements being reusable instruments
4. Logistics consolidation through managed inventory processes that encourages
5. Large shipment by Sea shipping from international providers (instead of small multiple shipments by air which has higher footprint impact)
6. Consolidated shipping arrangements with local suppliers to minimize road transportation in the country

All of these above strategies play an important part in supporting environmental sustainability
