What is Veblenian dichotomy? How can it be applied to consumption and human behaviors?
Ans 9. Veblenian dichotomy is a broad concept that is first
indicated by Veblen in the year 1899, in The Theory of the Leisure
Class.
According to this theory every person in the society depends on the
pleasure and the technical tool that is available to make easy
their lives.
Add this theory every society also appear in a way to have a
ceremonial and stratified based structure of status which runs
contrary on the needs of the instrumental that is the technological
aspects of the group life.
Discovery is applicable directly on the consumption habit of the
human behaviour because here the necessity plays a secondary role
in comparison to the lesser purchased by the individuals for their
comfort and to represent as a high level consumer of the
society.
Sometimes it increases the prices of the commodity just to view the
nature of consumers to purchase according to their status and to
fulfill their Desire that is not based on the necessity is but it
is based on the luxury that they can afford.
