Hong Kong was ranked the second most sustainable city in Asia after Singapore according to Arcadis’
Sustainable Cities Index (SCI) in 2018. Hong Kong obtained top marks in economic aspects but trailed
in some other important parameters. A green group recently warned that the Hong Kong government

Answer)

The three systems of sustainable development are

(I) Environmental approach

(ii) Social approach

(iii) Economical approach.

(1)The main problem of Hong Kong is its problems related to waste management and severe air pollution.

(2)The government has to take much stricter steps to ban any kind of plastic and any other nondegradable materials for packaging and general purposes and should focus on degradable materials like packaging made of paper, cotton bags etc .

(3) The air pollution is also uncontrollable which has led to increase in cases and problems related to air pollution.

(4)To check with the air pollution the government has to take measures to reduce the emmsion of hydrocarbons by allowing vehicles with efficient emmsions which do not cross specified limits

(5)because of the exploitation of natural resources and lands for waste disposal have already reached to their limits as a result new areas have been excavated which leads to vegetation loss hence care has to be taken to regain the vegetation loss by minimising the cut down of vegation.

(6) Various solutions adopted by government to enhance Sustainability should keep in mind about the rate at which natural resources in Hong Kong are exploited and should maximize the the use of renewable resources and energy efficiency.

(7) Growth of trees and natural vegetation would improve the quality of air.
