Interferon genes synthesized by using:

Enzymes and radioisotopes: restriction endonucleases like EcoRI, HindIII, BamHI, etc.------> plasmid DNAs were isolated------>reagents for oligonucleotide synthesis------> chemical synthesis of oligonucleotide fragments are Carried out----->phosphoester intermediate was treated with trichloroacetic acid for chain elongation------> ligation of IFN- gamma gene.(construction of the entire gene is by T4 DNA ligase- catalysed ligation of the 5' phosphorylated synthetic oligomers.

The genes are divided into 6 blocks, A- F, and individually constructed.

For blocks B- E, both the hybridization and ligation process are carried out at 22°C.

Interferons are secreted from the virus infected cells in the body. It make a protective covering on normal cells around its secretion. It protects the normal adjacent cells around virus infected cell from further damage
