Explain the role of the parties in Congress. How does party leadership differ between the two chambers and why? Explain recent trends in party leadership strength over time as well as the reasons for changing strength.
Political parties are individuals who organize to win elections, operate government, and influence public policy. Our two current major parties are Democrat and Republican parties. Political parties the Congress with organization and structure. Almost all members of Congress are either Democrats or Republicans. In Congress, the two chambers are made up of 535 voting members with 435 being representatives and the other 100 being senators. The leadership and decisions , in the chamber, are made through the Speaker. The speaker is the most powerful member in the House of Representatives for they can influence which bills go to which committees. For the Senate, they have the president of the senate, who is the vice president of theunited states. In case of a tie, they cast their vote to break the tie. For the parties, a party leader acts as the official representative of their political party. The party leader is typically responsible for managing the party's relationship with the general public. In many representative democracies, party leaders compete directly for high political office. Recent trends in party leadership strength over time would be derived from their confidence or “clout”. From any recent elections, instead of the discussion being on the political table, most of the parties leaders went straight to social media. Most of their strength came from social media, followers, or likes. In past times, the strength came from promises and getting our public and people behind them in the argument
