As the semester comes to an end and visions of your final project are perculating in your head - one last discussion for the road (worth 20 points). I'm sure that most of you took this course because it was either a requirement or you needed an online elective. There are a few of you, that I know from talking to you, have business ideas in mind that would benefit from sales training. But honestly, most people do not seek out a career in sales (it kind of finds them) and they feel that selling is something un-natural for them. I like this text by Futrell because he teaches sales as a process - breaking it down into bites we can manage. I also think there is transfer of the techniques you learn in a class like this to your every day life. So let's talk about it. Do you feel differently about sales now that the class is coming to a close? Do you view salespeople differently now? Did you find some application of this class to your personal life? And finally, would you ever consider a career in sales? You can be honest...let's talk about it...
Yes, I feel differently about sales now because before this class I considered sales as a low level profession but today I am aware that it is one of the most skilled profession and requires a lot of creativity in order to succeed. There is no way any business can service without effective sales, sales people are no doubt very skilled and creative and they are the direct revenue earners in the organization , therefore their importance can never be ignored. I believe that the class has actually kindled interest towards sales and I who always considered sales as a profession with low esteem and skill is now actually interested in sales because there is huge challenge and lot to learn and the best part is a person can earn unlimited in sales. There is no restriction for a person to earn in sales. I actually feel that the profession may have a negative impact in common man's mind but if we look at it closely, we will understand that more or less we all are sales man because either we sell products or idea for a living so there is no way such a profession can be demean.
