One of the most important factors
that keep us moving and acting is stress but when it crosses a
threshold limit, it becomes a problem and people freak out thus
ending making mistakes. It’s very important to take care of the
stress and overcome it in order to function normally. There are
different types of stress one would experience as they grow such as
exam stress, financial stress, relationship stress etc. Some employ
effective coping skills while others choose ineffective and
destructive coping skills.
One of the most effective coping skills is planning. A good
beginning is half done and planning is considered to be good
beginning. Most of the time people make mistakes in a hurry because
they don’t have a plan. They struggle to complete things because of
lack of plan.
Second thing is a constructive hobby. People who are stressed out
often need a constructive hobby that would calm them down and bring
homeostasis because they do what they like to do. Doing something
with utmost concentration will help them regain their confidence
and would give them a new perspective about the problem they
face.
Third thing is maintaining a very good sleep cycle. People who
sleep well will be able to calm down and get new insights during
the sleep, besides when one sleeps the physical self will calm down
and thus relieve one from one’s tiredness.
Final effective strategy is to maintain a very good relationship
with people. One needs a friend or loving parents or encouraging
sibling to confide. Sharing things with their loved ones will bring
more confidence and courage to face the problem at hand.
Ineffective coping is something that would lead one astray and
prevent them from functioning in the society normally. They would
struggle to adjust with events, people and problems. They thus
end-up in some negative coping which would
One of the most important ineffective coping strategy that many
people adopt is taking drugs, alcohol and smoking. This will not
only affect their physical wellbeing but also their mental
wellbeing.
Second ineffective coping strategy is avoiding people and events
that cause the stress. This will not only spoil their opportunities
in life but also prolong the stress.
Finally, some people lack self-confidence thus ending their
life.
I have always tried to play outdoors when I’m stressed out and sleep tight. This strategy always helped me refreshing myself. At times, I talk with one of my best friends and get some insight to overcome the stress.
