Witnessed a registerd nurse delegating her responsibility to a student nurse that are outside of the scope of student nurse leaving the client in psychological and physical risk of delyaed care which is outside the scope of student nurse.

Delegation simply means the transfer of the responsibility of a task to another staff member while being accountable for it.

Dangers-

It give time to the nurse to attend to more emergent patient needs but also improper delegation can impact patient care negatively.

Quality of work will be affected and trust issues will occur among team members.It can obstacle the further development of team members affecting the quality of work they do.Insecurity among members will be seen.

It can expose the nurse to court and lawsuit boards for charges of negligence ,error etc.

Ineffective delegation results in errors like medication error and low level care to the patient.

Lack of confidence in employees will be seen.

There are some barrier to delegation which make it ineffective like misconception about the true role of delegation, fear of loss of power, lack of the ability to represent well.

B)Relationship between delegation and communication-

Communication is the one of the most important five rights of delegation which results in patient safety outcomes.

Communication is said to be soul of delegation and also it is the one which is missed most often while transferring responsibility.Due to lack of time and everyone busy doing their work while changing the shifts, very less communication occur between the staff which results in compromised patient safety or decreased quality care.

Two factors by which communication is affected positively are-

1.detailed communication( expalining every case related information with patient)

2.communication which is done at right time and given enough time to understand the basic things bout the client.

It positively impact the patient care if done properly.

Outcomes like medication errors ocur due to short and iimprope rcommunication between registerd nurse and delegated nurse.

Communication clears about the role of delaged person and improves the interpersonal relationship at workplace.
