Types of Wholesalers:

1. Truck Jobber: Sells mainly perishables from his truck. Generally does business in rural places.

2. Rack Jobber: Specializes in a particular type of product. Keeps is goods in racks in his shop for choosing.

3. Cash and Carry Jobbers: They are the wholesalers who deal in cash transactions

4. General Merchandise Wholesaler: Sells different types of goods.

5. Specialty Wholesaler: Specializes in a particular type of product.

6. Brokers: Instead of directly handling good themselves, they work to bring the buyer and the seller together.

7. Commission Merchants: They handle the goods they sell but without owning them. They take commission similar to a broker

8. Manufacturers’ Agents: They work as sales representatives for several manufacturers.

9. Selling Agents: They undertake the job of marketing for several manufacturers. They do this work for a commission.

10. Converters: They work both as manufacturers and wholesalers.

11. Assemblers: Their main job is to assemble goods from various places and sell them in the market.

Types of Retailers

A. Retailers without fixed shops

1. Street Hawkers: They are the people who carry their goods and move from place to place or sell door to door.

2. Cheap Jacks: These people usually sell in a particular locality. Similar to street hawkers they move from place to place.

3. Street Vendors: They are the sellers who do business in busy streets.

B. Fixed-shop Retailers

1. General Stores: These shops sell different types of goods of daily use from eatables to groceries.

2. Specialty Shops: They specialize in particular item.

3. Pawn shops: These shops deal in second-hand items

4. Automatic Vending Machines: Milk, soft-drinks etc., are the products normally sold through coin-operated machines which deliver the goods without the aid of anybody.

5. Consumer durable shops: These shops sell all kinds of durable goods like, TV, fridge, washing machine, mixer, grinder, iron box, etc.
