Authoritative parenting is characterized by high demands and high responsiveness. This would mean that parents belonging to this group would engage actively in the lives of their children by guiding, motivating and helping them understand the expectations and pursue it. Although parents provide complete autonomy to the children, they also set parameters and guidelines in order to teach them freedom with responsibility.
Authoritarian parenting style is characterized by high demands and low responsiveness. This would mean that the parents would completely control the lives of their children while leaving them with little option. They would try to influence the choices, lifestyle, career choices of their children. They would be very strict and hard on their children.
Permissive parenting style is characterized by less expectations and high responsiveness. This would mean that these parents would be less demanding which would make the children spoiled because they may not know what is expected of them. This would mean that children in this parenting style would enjoy more pampering and freedom while may not learn responsibility.
Negligence parenting style is characterized by neither demands nor responsiveness which would mean that parents in this style wouldn’t involve in the lives of their children. This would mean that children wouldn’t get any attention from the parents and they may not know what to do. Thus, these children would develop with deviant behaviours because there would be no one to tell them what is right and wrong.
