Do you think your own sense of meaning and purpose is undergirded or supported by a source larger than you? What would happen to your own daily living if you suddenly decided that life holds no meaning whatsoever other than what you temporarily create during this brief stay here. How important is the idea of an afterlife to your own sense of values and direction in life?
Most of the religions advance the concept that whatever one does will help them secure a good place afterlife. These concepts are introduced to make sure there is order in the society, behave well and help everyone while they live on the earth. I don’t believe in afterlife and people should find the meaning and purpose of their life while they live in this earth. In my opinion, all the creatures are part of this universe and there is no after life. We only take forms or formless during our stay in the universe. One should strive hard towards self-actualization where one would feel satisfied with their life. One would feel generativity thus achieve whatever they planned to achieve. When one finds one’s life has no meaning and one expects that they would find meaning only in afterlife is not realistic because there is no afterlife. Our being now in this universe is the only thing that we could hold dear.
