Think back to your own elementary school experiences. Do you think you gained a sense of industry or inferiority from them? How did they affect your subsequent development?
Discussion Question 2
What are the main ideas of the trait and social-cognitive theorists?
I was very competent and participated in all the activities. I was good at academics and mingled well with other children. I was very good at sports and enjoyed playing team games. My teachers helped me a lot in improving my performance. I volunteered to do things without anyone forcing me to do things. My teachers used to write in my diary that I was very active.
This industrious personality helped me a lot to develop myself into a confident person leading teams for my school projects and identifying what I wanted to do in my life. I maintain very good relationship with my friends and people from other gender. I perform well in my academics and maintain a high self-esteem.
Trait theorists emphasize on the thoughts, behavior and emotion that are habitual. This is very much kind of personal and internal whereas social cognitive theorists suggests that most of a person’s personality is developed through their interaction, imitation, experience and exposure to different events and people in the society.
