These are the following strategies to empower clients to make healthy decisions. Empowering patients will results in changes in self, relationships with others, and behaviors.

  • The models of care are changing or a new model of caring- Keep updated the patient. The new models of care give patients an understanding of their health and how lifestyle choices affect them.
  • Transparency about health care- Nurses can help to build confidence in a patient by being fully transparent with the procedure used. his knowledge provides both comforts and empowers a patient about their health.
  • Patient engagement towards their health- Nurses properly engage their patients as a standard of care by explaining to them what is going on and how they intend to treat their problem.

  • Be Responsive to the Patient Needs- Effective patient care requires a team in order to puts the patient at the center and make them an active participant by listening and respond to the patient’s needs. Nurses are patient advocates and it is a necessity to openly communicate, effectively educate and provide transparent treatment and care to empower your patients to take control of their own health.

Personalized interventions are necessary for designing culturally-sensitive to sustain patient's involvement in their treatment and encourage them to take part in their own health and health care. Patient activation and empowerment is a cyclical process for their own health care that defined through the patient accumulation of knowledge, confidence, and self-determination.
