What “rules” are in place to ensure the success of an AA meeting group? are the rules helpful. why?In your opinion, is this approach effective? Why? Explain and defend your answer.
Alcoholic Anonymous is a group which promotes sobriety and helps addicts negate substance dependence. Alcoholic Anonymous emphasizes on individuality wherein every member of the group is solely responsible for themselves. It gives individuals the liberty to take decisions for themselves and be responsible for the same. The agenda of AA is to help others who are still addicted to alcohol or are dependent on it. The rules of AA include spreading the message of sobriety and helping people who are still struggling to overcome their addiction. Being able to help others overcome their addiction is apparently as self rewarding as being sober yourself. AA does not follow up on individuals to know whether they still drink or not. It exercises individual responsibility. I reckon, this approach may not quite work out or be as effective. Overcoming alcohol dependence is a struggle and needs immense self-control. A person may not be able to do it on their own. AA must help them with follow-up or some kind of emotional support to help them overcome the addiction.
