What are the most striking
similarities between religion and education as social institutions?
What are the most significant differences?
There are a number of striking
similarities between religion and education as the social
institutions is that both of these institutions carry out mass
teachings.
- As a result of both, people have
the realisation that they need to be open to whatever isnprobided
to them or whatever information in being put forth, since, they
know very little.
- Both these institutions teach that
the knowledge that a person has, is not the utmost knowledge and
there is a huge ocean of what could be learnt.
- Education teaches us of the
ignorance that we have had on an intellectual front and religion
teaches us of our ignorance at the spiritual front.
- Both of these institutions impart
confidence, that one gets from being right.
Differences between both these
institutions are as follows:
- With response to any topic, the
conclusions of both are different.
- Religion teaches to be open for
education, whereas, education challenges religious beliefs.
- People could be swayed in the name
of religion, under the influence of god, so much so that they will
not think twice before taking the lives of a thousand people.
Education never teaches violence.
