  • Producing offspring is not the only function of the family. Marriage sometimes establishes the legal father of a woman’s child or the legal mother of a man’s child; it oftentimes gives the husband or his family control over the wife’s sexual services, labor, and property.
  • Marriage, likewise, often gives the wife or her family control over the husband’s sexual services, labor, and property. Marriage also establishes a joint fund of property for the benefit of children and can establish a relationship between the families of the husband and wife.

  • The basic social unit called the family is tasked with meeting the basic needs of those family members who can't provide for themselves or can't afford enough to live by. Basic needs such as food, water, shelter, and clean air are accessible when a member can provide for his whole family.
  • A well-functioning family provides financial security for everyone living in the household. First, family members who can work contribute at least a part of their earnings to help the family meet everyone's needs and prosper. Second, the family combines resources to pay bills and manage their money to ensure that financial necessities are always taken care of. Finally, the parents teach the children how to manage money so they can continue to thrive when they move out on their own.
  • Children enjoy a healthy lifestyle when they live in a healthy family. They have healthy meals, are encouraged to get up and move, enjoy time outdoors, and get prompt medical attention when needed.Additionally, they provide us with our first system of values, norms, and beliefs - a system that is usually a reflection of their own social status, religion, ethnic group, and more.
  • Religion-
  • Religion has three major functions in society: it provides social cohesion to help maintain social solidarity through shared rituals and beliefs, social control to enforce religious-based morals and norms to help maintain conformity and control in society, and it offers meaning and purpose to answer any existential questions.
  • Religion may affect the individual, group, community or nation. It may play a peripheral or an integral role within society. It is religion which can fill the ideological and intellectual vacuum with sound teachings and can save one from a tendency towards absurdities and nationalities.Hence, true understanding of religion can play an important role in combating superstitions if understood correctly.
