How is the sex of a sexually reproducing dioecious mammal determine? Please if you could explain clearly.
Dioecious = The presence of male and
female reproductive structures in separate individuals
= Unisexual organisms
In mammals, sex is determined by the
sex chromosomes i.e. allosomes.
In humans, there are two types of chromosomes.
1. Autosomes = Chromosomes that specify vegetative characters
2. Allosomes = Chromosomes that specify sexual characters
In humans,
XX = Homogametic = Females
XY = Heterogametic = Males
