Answer: The following are some of the barriers to change while deriving quality initiatives

  1. Absence of desire: In most cases the people involved in the quality initiatives lack a desire for change and better quality. They do not want to do something different in order to achieve the better quality
  2. Poor planning: deriving quality initiatives require a strong planning. Every step in the process needs to be planned but often it is seen that the people responsible for implementing these quality initiatives lack in the process of planning
  3. Poor communication: enabling change requires a strong communication between the change leaders and the people involved in the change. Hence poor communication often acts as a barrier in the change process
  4. Poor implementation: Changes require strict implementation of the process. This makes implementation essential for the success of such initiatives. Poor implementation is again a barrier during change
  5. Lack of change leadership and commitment: Quality initiatives require a top to bottom commitment inside the organization. The leadership needs to be committed towards such initiatives. Hence if leadership lacks commitment it acts as a barrier to change during quality initiatives
