1) Write a post on the three procedures below.
Discuss how you would change the quality but not the quantity of a proposition.

Discuss how you would change the quality and the quantity of a proposition.
The four categorical statements are A., E, I, O
A= All S are P
Quality- Affirmative, Quantity- Universal
E= No S are P
Quality- Negative, Quantity- Universal
I= Some S are P
Quality- Affirmative, Quantity- Particular
O= Some S are not P
Quality- Negative, Quantity- Particular
1. To change the quality of the proposition and not the quantity, all you have to do is to change affirmative to negative and negative to affirmative. This is valid for all Categorical classes.
2. To change the quantity and not the quality, keep in mind that this cannot be done for O statements. For A propositions, you have to change the universal affirmative to a particular affirmative. For example, ‘All’ will have to be changed to ‘Some’. This can also be achieved by changing the places of subjects and predicates. For example, S are P changes and forms P are S. This method is adopted for E and I proposition.
3. To change the quality and the quantity of the proposition, it should be kept in mind that this is possible only in A and O propositions and sometime with E proposition. However, this can never be done for I propositions. For A and O proposition, the places of subject and predicate can be interchanged and the subject and predicate can be replaced by their complements. For E propositions, change it to the corresponding O proposition or follow the above steps for A and O proposition.
