In a well developed essay answer the following question: Siblings face a host of issues (both positive and negative) when they have a brother or sister with a disability. In this essay, describe the potentially positive and negative effects of having a sibling with a disability. Then propose methods of supporting siblings to handle the negative issues

Solutions

Expert Solution

There are many benefits in of a disable child when he or she finds other brothers and sisters are normal:

  • The socialization of the sibling takes place properly. He does not face any deficiency. His development is more than the other disable children.
  • The disable children get many advantages for playing and he is mentally developed. He gets full facilities and he finds interest for study.

Disadvantages of the children also appear there. Such children are neglected by the parents in comparison with other children. They do not get similar care from the parents. On the other hand, the normal brothers and sisters avoid their disable brother or sister and they even beat or use bad language to the disable child. Like the parents they also think that the handicapped member is the burden in the family. They feel shame to take the handicapped brother or sister with themselves. Gradually the disable child becomes lonely.
