STROKE: Stroke occurs when there is an ischemia {inadequate blood supply].to a part of brain orhemorrhage into brain that resultsin death of brain cells .The "Brain attack "is the word used for stroke.
SYMPTOMS/ETIOLOGY: risk factors of stroke canbe divided into two
1.nonmodifiable risk factors
2.modifiable risk factors
1. non modifiable risk factors include age ,gender,race and family history.strok risk increases with age,strokeare common in men. but more women die because of strok than men.african americanshave the higher risk than white.family history of stroke has also a higher risk.
2.modifiable risk factors; hypertention,heart diseases,smoking,excessivealcohol consumption,obesity,sleep apnea,metabolic syndrome,lack of physical exercise,poordiet,and drugabuse.
PREVENTION:Reduce salt andsodium intake
maintain a normal body weight
maintain a normal blood pressure
increase level ofphysical exercise
avoid tobacco chewing and smoking
limit the consumption of alchohol

do treatement of underlying cardiac problem
Anticoagulation therapy for the patient with arterial fibrillation
