Reflecting on the workplace capability of attitude, what are your current workplace understanding of the side effects of tobacco? What are some strategies you can use to ensure your workplace has a proper understanding of the side effects of tobacco? The workplaces in the contemporary era reflect a very high necessity of the capabilities. Further, these capabilities can be expected in various forms.
Attitudes are one of the significant facets, rather prerequisites at workplaces. The typical behaviour and though process allied with the learned predisposition are termed as attitudes.
Tobacco usage is indeed a hazardous thing but it tends to be more problematic at social places and workplaces.
Firstly, tobacco use in any of its forms definitely threatens/ endangers the health of the employees. It leads to increased maintenance costs, absentism and on other hand, decline in productivity. Passive smoking is a major problem at workplaces and proves to be a serious issue.
There have even been efforts some non profit organisations to create awareness regarding the above mentioned issues. Occupational safety and health administration attempts to monitor and regulate the similar occurrences.
Some constructive changes like willingness to get rid of tobacco usage, respect for work, sensitivity regarding I'll side of tobacco use, are essential in attitudes of the employees.
Rewards to employees who have given up tobacco use, encouraging incentives to those who are trying to get rid of the habit/ addiction, formal mechanism to control and monitor can be the best possible strategies, discussion as one of the agendas in meetings, a guest talk on the topic and even posters, e mails , social media, power point presentation etc can be good ways to communicate hazards and proper understanding of the side effects of tobacco.
