US STANDARDS THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH PUMP DESIGN &
OPERATION:
The design standards which are associated with the design and
operation of pumps are as follows.
- API Standard 610 - Centrifugal Pumps
- Involves the requirements of centrifugal pumps for use in
petroleum and petrochemical industries.
- This standard is applicable to overhung pumps and vertically
suspended pumps.
- API Standard 685 - Sealless Centrifugal Pumps
- Deals with the minimum requirements of Sealless centrifugal
pumps for use in petrochemical industries.
- API Standard 674 - Positive Displacement Pumps -
Reciprocating
- Specifies the minimum requirements for reciprocating positive
displacement pumps for use in petrochemical industries.
- API Standard 675 - Positive Displacement Pumps -
Controlled Volume
- Specifies the requirementfs for controlled volume pumps and
pump units for use in petroleum and gas industries.
- Rotary positive displacement pumps and diaphragm pumps are
excluded from the standard.
- API Standard 676 - Positive Displacement Pumps -
Rotary
- Involves the minimum requirement for rotary positive
displacement pumps.
- API Standard 681 - Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps
- Covers the requirements for the designa and operation of liquid
ring vacuum pump and compressor systems for use in petroleum and
gas industries.
- API Standard 682 - Shaft Sealing Systems for
Centrifugal & Rotary Pumps
- Covers the minimum requirements for sealing systems for
centrifugal and rotary pumps for use in petroleum, natural gas and
chemical industries.
