Question:- Provide an overview of the systems design phase.
System design can be seen as the third phase of the five stages of the system development life cycle. In the earlier step which is known as system analysis, a logical model of the new system is developed. Then the steps will be taken to develop the physical design which is able to fulfil the specifications which are mentioned in the system requirement document. In this, the main responsibilities are the designing of user interface, data design, system architecture development. The outcome of this step will be the system design specification.
Apple was a leader in the user interface design and it came up with the graphical user interface (GUI) in the initial part of the 1980s which included mouse and screen icons. In the opinion of most of the industry leaders, the best interface can be seen as that which is not even noticed by the users and this is quite true as they must perform the things which are expected by the user. Apple is of opinion that for having a successful App, it is important to design an extraordinary user interface. Due to the uniqueness of the products, Apple was rated way high than its competitors for a fairly long time. The tight hold of Apple on its market is a direct indicator that customers are not afraid of paying premium prices for those products and services which can fulfil their requirements.
Question:- What are input masks? What are validation rules? Why are they important?
Input masks can be treated as templates which facilitate some specific combination of characters so that the chances of mistakes or errors can be neglected during the data entry process.
With the help of validation rules, it can be ensured that unrequited or unnecessary data is not fed into the system. The different types of controls to ensure this can include data sequencing, data existence, data limiting and ranging, data suitability and validity.
Question:- What is the difference between a detail report, a summary report, and an exception report?
In case of data report, for each record which is processed, at least a single line of output is produced. While in case of a summary report, only subtotals and totals are reflected. When we deal with exception report, only that data will be reported which is able to satisfy he certain conditions
Question:- What are the main principles of source document design?
The various principles of source document design are given as below:-
