Discuss the steps an organization can take to foster learning. Provide an example of each.
Steps an organisation can take to foster learning:
1. Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each team player: The first and foremost step in trying to foster learning is to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each of the team players. For example: If the performance of the team has not been as good as other teams, the first step should be to pen down the strengths and weaknesses of the team members individually and then as a group. It is important to know the points which have scope for improvement.
2. Follow up and review the work allotted to team members: If a senior member of the team shows involvement in the team, the junior members feel more motivated to present a better output. Setting deadlines and following up regularly helps in increasing the effectiveness of all team members.
3. Schedule regular trainings for everyone / Share experiences in meetings: It is important to stay up to date with the business and the ways of improving efficiency. It is of utmost importance for everyone to stay connected and learn from all available projects. Team building activities in which team members share details about the projects they are working on and the difficulties they faced and how they were overcome, can help other members also use those techniques and get ideas while working on other projects.
4. Develop a continuous learning culture: Maybe have a sharing platform where everyone can share the new tips, tricks and shortcuts they discover which have helped them become more efficient.
5. Build Individual Development Plans Quarterly: Growth and learning expectations of each member should be clearly defined every quarter so that they have a set goal and can work towards that. Working without a goal in mind does not lead to results as good as when a member has a set game plan.
6. Hold Brainstorming (Idea Generation) Sessions on Specific Topics: This will enable the team members to think out of the box and enable creative thinking.
